Michael Keation to play "Villain" in "Robocop" Reboot

Michael Keaton, the original "Dark Knight", has just been confirmed to replace Hugh Laurie for the villain role for the "Robocop" reboot.

It was recently reported that "House" star Hugh Laurie was in negotiations to play the villainous CEO of Omni Corp in the upcoming "RoboCop" reboot. His character creates RoboCop for the company's own gain.

Then came word that Laurie dropped out and MGM was in talks with a small group of actors to replace him, including Clive Owen. And now, director Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) has confirmed that the role went to Michael Keaton (Batman, Beetlejuice). "Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place," said the helmer.

Keaton's last major film appearance was in 2010's The Other Guys and he voiced the part of Ken in Toy Story 3. He is repped by ICM Partners and Ziffren Brittenham.

The new movie stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Abie Cornish. It's set to begin shooting this summer for an August 9th, 2013 release.
