Developed by Terminal Reality, The story revolves around crossbow-toting redneck Daryl Dixon and his bitterly racist brother Merle as they make their way to Atlanta, Georgia. Players will take the role of Daryl and fight their way across the rolling southern countryside by either fighting the zombie hordes with weapons, or by using stealth to avoid detection altogether. According to Activision, “No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world.”
Although we haven't seen anything official from Activision, IGN reports that Daryl will encounter "a slew of other characters" along that way that will either help him, or try to hurt him, depending on choices the player makes. Whether these characters can tag along during the journey is also completely up to the player, and "represents just some of the major decisions that will constantly be made while fighting to survive."
In addition to fighting zombies and taking on companions, players will have to deal with managing food, ammunition and supplies as they make their journey. Even more, the post-apocalyptic zombies use sight, smell and sound to track your every moment -- sounds like a good case for smearing zombie innards all over Daryl's clothes.
The Walking Dead will hit stores in 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Few other details are available, but check out the game’s official site for more info in the future. Until then, keep an eye out for all the latest announcements about The Walking Dead TV show before it returns to AMC for season three later this year.

Templar Note: Based on the comic book published by Image Comics, "The Walking Dead" tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. The story follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.
