Weekly Pull-List 8/8/12

Welcome, True Believers & Constant Readers to our newest feature, where we give you a glimpse at what the Templar Digital Team is reading each week.  Not sure what new releases to pick up at the comic shop today?  Well we're here to give you the lowdown on what ongoing series are worth grabbing, keeping up with or catching up on.

In the Marvel Universe this week, AvX is on break, for the most part, with just one tie-in.  So we're going to be spotlighting the second issues of a few very interesting titles.  Also up we have a new title's premier and are going to check in on an old favorite, before rounding up with this week's only Avengers vs. X-Men installment.

First up is an absolute must read: Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe #2.
He's even MORE insane than usual, he's apparently out to destroy the universe, and the Avengers are next on his hit list!  This ought to be good...

Next up is another title that may sound odd, to say the least: Space: Punisher #2.  In space, no one can hear you die!  It's the Punisher up against aliened out versions of some of our favorite villians (extraterrestrial Doc Ock and Green Goblin, can Space Spidey be far behind?  We hope not!)  Sound kinda crazy?  Well it's just crazy enough to work.

And last up of the second issues we have that dimension-jumping, "Are they the new Exiles or not?" book: X-treme X-Men #2.  Dazzler and a team of alternate reality version X-Men are out to stop some extra-dimensional evil Xaviers, with the help of the Professor's head in a bottle (yea...like Futurama...)  We told you this weeks titles were interesting.  If you loved the Exiles, or What If? like we do, you'll want to check this book out.

Premiering this week is a title we're pretty excited about: Gambit #1James Asmus's writing for the X-Universe has been excellent.  We look forward to seeing where he will take our favorite mutant cajun.

Things have been heating up in The God of Thunder's corner of the Marvel Universe. So we'll be picking up Journey Into Mystery #642 & The Mighty Thor #18 to check in on the Aesir/Vanir war and celebrate 50 years of Asgardian goodness.

New Avengers #29 is this week's AvX tie-in.  The return of the Illuminati.  Should be interesting, but seeing as how they screwed everything up last time around (and got HULK SMASHED for it!) we're not counting on them to save the day...

MARTIAN MANHUNTER battles STORMWATCH! A major turning point for the DC Universe as MARTIAN MANHUNTER quits STORMWATCH forever! Don’t miss STORMWATCH this month in I, VAMPIRE!
What is the horrific secret behind “THE FORGOTTEN SUPERMAN” What happens when Superman is too late to save LOIS LANE? And what is the staggering new threat The Man of Steel is about to face?

TEMPLAR NOTE: Here at Templar Digital we are always looking for your opinions and suggestions.  Think we should check out your favorite book?  Think we should be reading and reviewing another series?  Think we're spot on, or dead wrong?
