Welcome back, our comic-crazed compatriots! This week in the Marvel U, the (kinda) epic crossover event Avengers vs. X-Men is speeding toward conclusion. Last week we celebrated 50 years of Thor. This week it's 50 years of Great Power and Great Responsibility, so we'll be picking up some Spidey before we take a jump out of mainstream Marvel continuity to take another look at the Merc with a Mouth's quest to kill everyone, and finally to step into Stephen King's Marvelous Midworld. It took awhile for this event to really heat up, but Avengers VS X-Men #10 has a lot of promise. Cyclops is in K'un L'un and Hope's training is far from complete. The Earth's Mightiest heroes, and Earth itself's only chance of salvation may be the reality warping Scarlett Witch...but after all that's happened, can she be trusted?
Avengers #29 is going to take us backward in the AvX storyline a little, to the big fight from Wolverine and the X-Men #12, which was one of this event's strongest issues.
Marvel is marking the 50TH Anniversary of our favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man with Avenging Spider-Man #11. And if this summer's reboot left you wanting to see more Spidey vs. Lizard (or wanting to get into a Spidey story that doesn't take forever to get anywhere...), you'll want to pick up Amazing Spider-Man #691 along with us. Can the Lizard be stopped and Curt Connors be saved?
Lastly this week we will be grabbing DARK TOWER: THE GUNSLINGER - THE MAN IN BLACK #3. Every Marvel entry into Stephen King's classic time-travelling and dimension-jumping epic Dark Tower saga has been marvelous. Newcomers to the tale and long time readers alike are sure to be dazzled by this comic adaptation.
