No further details have been revealed at this time, but it is obvious that Marvel wants to line up all of their films for Phase Two to match with the success of THE AVENGERS film. Whedon may also be positioning himself as a central force in the development of future Marvel products since THE AVENGERS seems to be the final stop for each phase of film releases the studio has been putting out.
Whedon will create a "Marvel-related TV series" for ABC. This will mean Whedon will be one busy guy. Hopefully if both are in production simultaneously, we could see some actual serious crossover between the two.
Joss Whedon has plenty of experience as a showrunner. During his years in television he brought worlds like Firefly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer andAngel to life, and even managed to the connect the arcs of the last two together. And now it looks like Whedon will have to take that same experience and talent to the big screen as he is basically becoming the showrunner for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It was also announced that Whedon has actually signed a three year exclusive deal with the studio that will have him working under the company's roof until June 2015.
