Several years ago, Paramount was looking to acquire film rights to "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell," the popular video game by Ubisoft. Peter Berg (Hancock, Battleship) was in talks to direct, but the project fell apart.
Now comes word that several major studios are once again interested in turning the game into a movie, with Paramount being the frontrunner since the studio has a history with Clancy, previously developing the Jack Ryan franchise and working on "Without Remorse," based on a Clancy novel.
"Splinter Cell" revolves around Sam Fisher, a covert operative assigned to a top-secret National Security Agency branch called the Third Echelon. There have been several installments of the game, most recently, "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction," released in 2010. A new game, "Blacklist," is planned for next year.
Below is a Fan Film called Splinter Cell: Extinction and is based off the Splinter Cell Games and its to give you a taste of what is to come for Splinter Cell.
