Movie Review: Snow White and the Huntsman

In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman who is ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed ends up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.

Lowdown: In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Snow White (Kristen Stewart) the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) dispatched to kill her.

Review: Snow White and the Huntsman is a pretty well done fantasy film with great characters, very talented cast including Bob Hoskins, Ian Mcshane, Ray Winstone, and Nick Frost as some of the dwarves with not over the top acting, and stunning visual effects. Yes I know, they have made an adaptation of Snow White that not only lives up to the story, but twists it into a completely new version that has made it fun to watch. Even though 2 adaptations were made one being this movie and the second being "Mirror Mirror." Charlize Theron was fantastic maybe even Oscar nominee worthy, Cast/acting was superb with the exception of Kristen Stewart. She was a little stiff and lacked any range of emotion but fortunately the rest of the cast save the movie. Chris Helmsworth plays his role as the Huntsman as a no powered "Thor" who traded his "Mjolnir" for an axe but still plays a strong role. And Rupert Sanders does a very good job for his first directorial debut with the characters and visual effects.

Overall: In the end, I thought this was actually a really good film, Kristen Stewart's acting was actually a slight better then her "twilight" counterpart making it still watchable. All of the main characters have depth. And the story was dark, entertaining with good visual effects and action with foreboding but definitely worth watching.
