And that's because Bill Murray is refusing to take part in the third installment, sometimes even not answering or ignoring phone calls from Dan Aykroyd.
This pushed Aykroyd to consider killing off Murray in the first few minutes of the film or possibly replacing him. Now, during a chat with David Letterman, Murray also explained that he doesn't want to take part in a sequel that may turn out to be as bad as "Ghostbusters 2."
"They just don't have a really good script," Murray said. "It's hard. The second 'Ghostbusters' wasn't as much fun for me as the first one. It's hard to make a sequel. That first one was really funny. It was just so darn funny. It's hard for me."
Murray continued to say that he's not giving up on the third film and that a rewrite may fix all the issues with the script. "We'll try again," he said.
TEMPLAR NOTE: I love Ghostbusters, The first two movies, grew up watching the Original 80's cartoon and as well as the spin-off Extreme Ghostbusters. It hurts that Bill Murray is hating the third installment but to be honest: There is no Ghostbusters without Bill Murray. If he doesn't want to do it, then you don't do the movie. I would love to see a new Ghostbusters, but if he's not in it then you just have to just let a good thing just be a good thing from the past.

Wow, sucks that he does not want to take part of it, wonder how bad the sequel's script is?? than again you barely have people w/good talent now to make scripts as they are all remakes or really something that was slapped on together.. if there was only a lil' hope ??? Darn I love Ghost Busters 1 and 2.. "Who you gonna call.. Ghost Busters.." !
